Justin has gained over fifteen years experience in the third sector, covering the fields of community development, conservation, publishing and mental health. This work has included organisational restructuring, supporting community groups to make a difference, turning around struggling services, developing mentoring initiatives that helped the most vulnerable in society and creating new projects based on soundly researched evidence. This work has been underpinned by an approach that listens to the needs of clients, staff and other stakeholders, empowering them to deal with problems and move forward.
A particular interest is the issues organisations can have with governance, including their structure, relationships with stakeholders and organisational mental health.
Research experience includes contributing to a major project that examined the potential of open source techniques to promote sustainable development at Manchester University, drawing up an Action Plan for a Bolton ERDF programme and evaluating how Hyndburn CVS could most effectively engage with clients.
A member of the Chartered Management Institute since 2006, Justin has a Masters in Social Enterprise Management with Distinction from Liverpool John Moores University.
